HIKINGS TOURS IN THE MOROCCAN MIDDLE ATLAS

I am not a tour guide, but I am a nature lover

I enjoy the restful nature offers being out of the city's grid. I have just accomplished my master degree in natural patrimony and sustainable development. Born and raised in Sefrou, trained & qualified wilderness as a geologic and traveller. I love meeting new people. Hiking activities draw the most friendly and unique personalities. Finding similarities of interest in someone from a different continent, priceless opportunity. I love taking photos to post them on my Instagram page, so don't be shy to strike a pose. Summarized, I'm in the business of creating great memories.

Sefrou is a city in central Morocco situated 27 Km South of Fès, it was named for the Ahel Sefrou, a Berber tribe that once inhabited the area. This city offers many beautiful places to be seen:

Old Medina : It has a small but interesting Medina that was designated a Unesco World Heritage site in 2013. As such, the Medina walls and the big gates have been restored and some funduqs (hotels) are being rebuilt. Sefrou once hosted one of Morocco’s largest Jewish communities (as many as 8000 people, according to some accounts), The first Jewish people lived in the area of the Ahel Sefrou, most of whom were converted to Judaism around 2,000 years ago. In the 8th century, most of these were converted to Islam under Idris I of Morocco. In the 9th century, a second Jewish population settled from the Tafilalt area and Southern Algeria. Most of the descendants of these Jews stayed in Sefrou until 1967, when many moved to Israel.

Sefrou also was where Moulay Idriss II lived while overseeing the building of Fez.

Many streets and area was named by Moulay Idriss II, like Habouna (he said once those people love us which means in Arabic AHABOUNA).

MKACEM (means where the water split in Arabic Lma Kacem), and the street in the Medina where the market is located are named Sitti Masouda, some stories said that Masouda was the favorite lady to the Sultan.
